Thank you for your interest in auditioning for "Interaction and Attraction: An Evening of One Acts "  directed by Margaret Carey.

 

Below you will find information on all four plays including  character descriptions. All roles are open and newcomers are especially welcomed and encouraged.

 

The audition form is available online.

Sure Thing By David Ives

Synopsis

A classic of contemporary comedy: Two people meet in a cafe and find their way through a conversational minefield as an off-stage bell interrupts their false starts, gaffes, and faux pas on the way to falling in love 

Character Descriptions:

Actors should look relatively close in age.

bulletBill  Male, 20's - 40's, typical guy looking for a date. Suffers from foot-in-mouth disease.
bulletBetty  Female, 20's - 40's, typical girl tired of looking for Mr. Right. Intelligent and sarcastic.

English Made Simple By David Ives

Synopsis 

A young man and woman meet at a party, and their immediate romantic attraction is translated into comically unromantic grammar lessons as they struggle to free themselves from the banal constrictions of party talk. 

Character Descriptions:

bulletJill  Female, 20's - 30's, Nice girl looking for love at a party.
bulletJack  Male, 20's - 30's, Nice guy looking for love at a party.
bulletLoudspeaker Voice This role is flexible and may be onstage at podium. Any age. Male as a talk/game show announcer or Female as a Dr. Ruth Westheimer-type. Text book educated, strong and confident.

Ferris Wheel by Mary Miller


Synopsis

Two strangers, Dorian and John are randomly placed on the same lift at an amusement park somewhere in the rural South. Miller's "Ferris Wheel" isn't a facile love story, but by the time the ride is finished, Dorian and John have a transformed vision of each other.

Character Descriptions:

bulletJohn Male, 40's - 50's. Average looking guy used to being solo. Goes from calm to edgy to a Mr. Nice guy. 
bulletDorien  Female, 40's - 50's. Nervous, but facing her fears to build character. Chatty, sweet and sympathetic.

Finger Food by Nina Shengold


Synopsis


”Finger Food” skewers the advertising world while serving up a satiric look at sexual fetishism between a photographer who specializes in hands and his new model.

Character Descriptions:

bulletDenny Male, 30's - 50's. An obsessive-compulsive professional photographer. Passionate about his work. 
bulletMona  Female, 20's - 40's. Hand model totally method. Eccentric and  sexy while trying to cover her lack of self-confidence.
